Did you know that more than half of social media users use it to research products and services before deciding? That means your potential customers are already looking, but will they find you?
It can help build brand awareness, engage customers, and drive sales.
When used strategically, it can:
✅ Make your brand more visible and memorable.
✅ Showcase your expertise with valuable content.
✅ Build trust by interacting with your audience.
✅ Generate leads and enquiries through strong calls to action.
But before posting, you must set up your profiles properly and understand what works in your industry.
Your business page bio is the first thing people see when they visit your profile.
It should quickly explain who you are, what you do, and why someone should care.
Before writing yours, look at your competitors:
🔍 How do they describe their business?
📍 Do they include a location, unique selling point, or call to action?
✍️ What wording feels professional and engaging?
💡 Adapt, don’t copy – take inspiration but make it work for your brand!
Your social media should reflect your brand’s identity at a glance.
This means consistent colours, fonts, and messaging across all platforms.
✅ Use Your Brand Colours. Frame images and posts using your brand’s colour palette.
✅ Stick to One or Two Fonts. Too many styles can make your posts look cluttered. For example, we use Lato and Anton as much as possible.
✅ Use a Consistent Tone. Your tone should match your professional, friendly, or humorous brand.
Rather than posting random images, add subtle branding to every post:
Use coloured borders that match your logo. Imagine for a minute that we were in flooring. To promote our brand, we have framed the above image in yellow.
Designing posts using Canva or Adobe Express allows you to set up templates with your brand colours. Make it simple and consistent so you can repeat it every time.
Keep a consistent photo editing style (brightness, contrast, and filters should match your brand’s feel).
A watermark ensures your work is recognisable and prevents others from using it without credit.
Step 1: Create a Transparent Logo
If you already have a logo, remove the background using Canva (Pro), Adobe Express, or a similar application. Then, save the file as a PNG to keep it transparent.
Step 2: Design a Reusable Template
Use a light and dark version of your logo so you are prepared to adapt depending on the background. Adjust transparency (50-70%) so it doesn’t dominate the image. Place it in a corner or across the centre for protection. Subtlety is key. It is to highlight and protect but not dominate.
Step 3: Automate Branding on Every Post
Save pre-designed templates in Canva or Adobe. To maximise consistency, always add a watermark before posting images of your work.
You could also add your website or social handle (the name given to your page on the relevant social media site) to remember not to dominate the image.
A Call to Action (CTA) tells your audience what to do next and is usually the final image on your post, whether inviting the customer to visit your website, send a message, or book an appointment.
✅ For Service-Based Businesses: “Message us to book your free consultation.”
✅ For Product-Based Businesses: “Shop now – link in bio.”
✅ For Engagement: “Tell us in the comments – have you tried this?”
Overlaying a simple CTA on completed work, like “Want this for your home? Get in touch today!” adds an extra nudge for potential customers.
Want to know what works on social media? It's time to play detective.
Look at your competitors' (national and local) pages instead of copying, analysing and adapting the information for your brand.
Check Their Business Page Bio – How do they introduce themselves? Is it clear and compelling?
Look at Their Posts – What type of content gets the most likes, shares, and comments?
Do they use Calls to Action? – Are they guiding their audience to engage, buy, or enquire?
Are They Watermarking Their Images? If they are, it means they value their content. Should you do the same?
Use Your Professional Dashboard— to check which posts perform best on platforms like Facebook and Instagram and adjust your strategy accordingly. Does the audience prefer videos or images?
Blatantly stealing someone's content is wrong, but learning from their success and putting your spin on it is smart business. The reality is that everyone does it.
1️⃣ Choose Your Main Platform – Are your customers on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok or all four?
2️⃣ Optimise Your Bio – Make sure it clearly states who you are, what you do, and how to contact you.
3️⃣ Plan Your Content – Rotate between showcasing work, giving advice, and engaging with your audience.
4️⃣ Use Insights to Improve – Check which posts perform best and refine your strategy.
